First meeting for new NI executive

19 May 2011 Last updated at 05:11 GMT Assembly chamber Ministers were announced at the assembly on Monday The first meeting of the new power-sharing executive is due to take place at Stormont Castle later.

The first and deputy first ministers will co-chair the meeting, as the new administration gets down to business.

The first executive meeting is being billed as a 'getting to know you session', although some ministers are quite familiar with operations.

Tight finances and finding funds for the Altnagelvin cancer unit will be among the key issues being discussed.

On Monday, DUP leader Peter Robinson re-appointed his party's four ministers, with Sammy Wilson returning to finance, Arlene Foster to enterprise, Edwin Poots taking up health and Nelson McCausland now in charge of social development.

Sinn Fein has three new ministers, with John O'Dowd taking on education, Michelle O'Neill agriculture and Caral Ni Chuilin, culture.

The Ulster Unionists have one less minister, but are sticking with Danny Kennedy, this time in regional development.

The SDLP's Alex Attwood returns, this time as environment minister.

The Alliance Party has two ministers, David Ford in justice and newcomer Stephen Farry in employment and learning.
